Captain Edward Troy Anderson
THS Class of 1988
After graduating from Troup High School, Troy attended Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy. His first assignment was Pensacola, Florida, where he received flight training and was designated as a Naval Aviator in 1996.
Captain Anderson's 26-year career encompassed four aviation operational tours in Jacksonville, Florida, and Norfolk, Virginia, where he deployed aboard various classes of ships to support the preservation of U.S. strategic and diplomatic interests. He accumulated nearly 2,000 flight hours while deployed for more than four and one-half years. While not deployed, Captain Anderson provided critical leadership and support to various Navy Joint Service and Presidential appointee staff, obtained two Master's Degrees, and excelled at all levels to ensure command and agency successes.
Captain Anderson's career highlights include his exceptionally successful and coveted tour as the operational Commander of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light Four Two (HSL -42). As commander, Captain Anderson led the Navy's first-ever operational deployments of the MQ-8 Fire Scout drone and achieved seven annual fleet-wide awards for his Squadron's successes in safety, tactical prowess, cost-wise efficiency, and overall effectiveness.
Captain Anderson retired from active duty service in 2021 and returned to LaGrange with his wife Tina (THS Class of 1990). They have two sons, Gavin and Owen. Captain Anderson's second career has been actively serving Troup County Government in various roles as the Community Development Director and the LaGrange-Callaway Airport Manager.
Coach Dariel Wayne Daniel
THS Class of 1966
After graduating from Troup High School, Coach Danial attended Auburn University and received a B.S. degree in Physical Education and a minor in Geography in 1970. He then went on to get a Master's in Physical Education and his Educational Specialist Degree in Social Studies, displaying his commitment to higher knowledge and skills in the field of education.
Coach Daniel became a teacher and coach at Troup High School in 1974 and was named 1989 Teacher of the Year. He was twice named National High School Coach of the Year by Wrestling USA magazine and the National High School Athletic Coaches Association. As head coach, his teams won nine State Championships in Georgia and five in Texas, where he served as an assistant coach. His career highlights include 252 unbeaten consecutive wrestling dual victories (rand 2nd in the nation) and 217 unbeaten consecutive dual victories (ranked 3rd in the nation). Coach Daniel published seven wrestling technique articles (four feature articles) in Scholastic Coach and Athletic Journal and published a book, Developing Wrestling Champions, a testament to his commitment to advancing the sport and mentoring aspiring wrestlers.
Coach Daniel's story is one of dedication and impact, resonating across education, community service, and the world of wrestling. His journey led him to become an influential educator and an esteemed wrestling coach, leaving an unforgettable mark on those he taught and coached. Coach Daniel was a member of several community service organizations, especially those involving youth. After retirement, he organized and conducted free camps and clinics to foster talent and excellence in wrestling.
On November 19, 2013, while returning home from a Long Cane Middle School wrestling tournament, Coach Dariel Wayne Daniel lost his life in an automobile accident in Thomaston, GA.
Dr. Karyn Livingston Hunnicutt
THS Class of 1990
Dr. Hunnicutt received many honors and awards while at Troup High School, including Homecoming Queen, attending Governor's Honors, cheerleading, and playing tennis. She gives credit to her teachers and coaches, who pour into students like her, allowing her to believe in her gifts and talents. Dr. Hunnicutt graduated from the University of Georgia Magna Cum Laude with a Microbiology degree in 1994. She was accepted to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where she was awarded the Harry O'Rear award for demonstrating integrity, academic performance, and ability to relate to others in Pediatrics. After completing residency at Augusta Children's Hospital in 2001, she returned to LaGrange to continue her medical career at The Children's Clinic of LaGrange.
Dr. Hunnicutt has served with several local civic organizations and her church through the years. She says, "I have found my best gift to the community is with my patients, and I make it a priority to serve the underprivileged children and families of Troup County. What a privilege to be a part of a community where you yourself were nurtured. My biggest accomplishment has been understanding that I have a platform at my office to share in the healing work of Jesus. I have realized that people need medical healing, but spiritual and family healing are probably more important." Dr. Hunnicutt encourages those who are hurting and struggling and gives them hope. She understands that a healthy community begins with a strong family at home. She says, "Our only hope is continuing to put time and energy into those who need it most. I try to do my small part to help those that I can."
Judge Allen Barber Keeble
THS Class of 1963
While at Troup High School, Judge Keeble received many honors and awards. He lettered in baseball and basketball and was the 1963 Star Student. Judge Keeble attended the University of Georgia on a full scholarship, receiving an AB Degree in 1966. He attended UGA Law School and received his JD Degree in 1969. While in school, Judge Keeble served in the Air Force ROTC and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. After reporting for active duty, he achieved the rank of Captain and served as Judge Advocate until 1972. He was admitted to practice before the Court of Military Appeals in Washington, D.C., and was appointed a Military Judge.
Judge Keeble returned to LaGrange in 1972 where he practiced law. During his career as a lawyer, he served as the President of the Troup County Bar Association. He served as a State Court Judge as well as Juvenile Court Judge while he continued to practice law. Judge Keeble was chosen as Superior Court Judge for the Coweta Circuit where he served until his retirement in 2012 then became Senior Judge part-time for several years.
Judge Keeble has given back to his community by working with many local civic organizations and his church. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels, LaGrange Food Closet, and the local Clothes Closet. He also served on several boards. As an ordained Elder, he occasionally filled the pulpit of small churches that did not have regular ministers.
Elijah Kelley
THS Class of 2004
Elijah participated and excelled in the arts at all levels as a student in the Troup County School System: Rosemont Elementary, Long Cane Middle, and Troup High School. These talents were fostered by his love of music and church, where he and his family toured the southeast and served in multiple churches throughout his childhood. This unconventional and faith-led training led to early success. While at Long Cane, Elijah booked roles in Mama Flora's Family and A Lesson Before Dying. The decision was then made for Elijah to finish school and graduate. After graduation, Elijah's parents, Anthony and Evalene Flournoy, moved to Los Angeles to pursue his career, which has led to many worldwide successes. With over a half billion dollars of box office performance and countless record-breaking stats for cable and streaming services and awards, Elijah's career is just beginning. He attributes all of his success to God.
His credits include: Mama Floras Family, A Lesson Before Dying, Take the Lead, 28 Days, Heavens Fall, Rome Jewel, The Wiz Live, Hairspray, Red Tails, Strange Magic, The Butler, The New Edition Story, and the upcoming biopic Sammy Davis Junior Story. His accomplishments include 3 NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Television Movie Mini-Series or Dramatic Special, New Edition Story BET's highest-rated and most-watched telecast, Mini-Series Palm Springs Film Award for Ensemble of the Year (Hairspray), Teen Choice Award, Critics Choice Movie Award for Best Acting Ensemble, and a platinum album for Hairspray.
In addition to helping several local churches in Troup County, Georgia, Elijah has raised thousands of dollars through the Troup High School's Battle of the Harvest. He has also established the Elijah Kelley Foundation in Troup County to help local children follow their dreams.
James Ike Stogner
THS Class of 1960
James was an example to other students in the way he lived and treated people while at Troup High School. He was an active member of the Key Club and the DCT program, which enabled him to receive school credits for working part-time. After graduation, James served in the United States Army for two years. Then, returning to LaGrange, he worked at several businesses before going to the Mike Patton Volkswagen and Honda dealership. He and Mike Patton bought the Toyota Dealership of LaGrange in 1978 and continued their partnership until 2002, when Michael Stogner bought Patton's share. James and his son built the dealership on Lafayette Parkway in 2007.
James was one of the first members of the Troup High School Alumni Association and has been an active member and supporter from the beginning. He started the Alumni Brick Program, which can be seen in front of Troup High School.
James has had a profound impact on this region. His dedication and selfless actions have solidified his reputation as a pillar of this community. His name is synonymous with generosity and leadership. His actions are a testament to his deep faith and commitment to living out the principles of compassion, service, and unity. He has woven a fabric of support and kindness that stretches across all corners of Troup County. He goes about quietly doing good. His motto in life is "Always do what is right."
